Chernobyl Kids - Day Out
The Chernobyl Childrens’ Project (Blantyre) is a group of volunteers from the Blantyre area who, for 2 weeks every 2 years give a lot of time, effort and fun to the children from Belarus who are still seriously affected by the Chernobyl Disaster in 1996. The group raise funds to bring the children over here for 2 weeks holiday.
When over here, the children stay with the various group members, who for the 2 weeks take the children on fun trips, tours, and keep them cheerfully occupied. Money is raised from various fund raisers one of them being the Thursday night quiz and raffle in the West End Bar.
Hamilton Sub Aqua Club were only too delighted to assist on one of these fun days by taking some of these kids and their carers on boat trips on our RIB and other boats around Loch Fyne as part of a day around Inveraray. The weather was fantastic and we offered them a great BBQ with loads of freshly caught fish from the Loch. Here are some of the photos from that day.
We are all looking forward to their next visit.
