Basic Equipment
The club has a good selection of equipment, with trainees taking first call in it's use and this will be available throughout your training. The basic equipment that you are encouraged to buy is only:
Mask and snorkel set of pool fins Even if you don't complete training and take up the sport as a regular activity, these can be used on any beach holiday.
When you complete your pool training, you will then need a drysuit to complete the open water assessments of your training. This can be hired from local dive retailers.
And then the rest...
Once training is complete and you want to continue diving, it's much cheaper in the long run to buy your own gear. It's up to you how much you spend as second hand gear can be just as good (I bought my drysuit second hand and it had only been in the sea 7 times but got it half price), check the papers, ask about...
gloves and hood Diving fins (try these on with your suit on) dry suit (a club member will be happy to come with you to advise you on this) regulator octopus console for tank pressure; depth gauge computer BCD/ stab jacket weight belt or harness compose Torch knife/ line cutter tanks Pony (independent air supply) DSMB and reel (a lot of charters wont let you dive without this) As long as you are a member, club equipment is there for your use but remember trainees take priority in it's use.
